Jo Mitton

Committee Member Jo is an easily recognised face on the sailing scene having completed in racing at the top level and now operates one of Australia’s leading boat sales businesses. Jo has a wealth of knowledge about boating at all levels, and has probably owned more boats than any other person in the State!

Allan Aitchison

Chairman HQMA Local businessman and identity, Allan has a wealth of corporate management experience and is a director of several companies. With 40+ years of commercial Electrical, IT and Microwave infrastructure delivery as the director of major projects, including design, engineering and project management of telecommunications projects throughout Australia. Allan has a strong interest in the development of South Australia and is a trusted advisor to the State Government.

Stuart McGregor

Committee Member Recently retired, Stuart has 40+yrs as an Airline Transport Pilot, captaining a range of aircraft types for QANTAS on domestic and international routes. Originally from Perth, started sailing at age 14, crewing on Mirrors, Rainbows and then coastal offshore sailing/racing on Endeavour 24s. Based in Sydney for 8yrs he owned a NorthShore27 sailing out of Middle Harbour & exploring all that the harbour and coastal sailing has to offer. Also, a couple of Bareboat charters in Vanuatu and the Greek Islands are memorable experiences. A berth owner at Holdfast Quays since 2016, he owns a Catalina 34’ in partnership with a friend. Residing close to the marina, Stuart keenly helps when and where needed, keeping an eye out during rough weather events and he is always happy to pop down & help fellow boaties.

Gabriella Ornig

Accounts Gabriela is a well-respected and accomplished manager in business and finance for small businesses. With an extensive background as an entrepreneur in financial services and manufacturing, she thrives on connecting with proactive individuals committed to achieving excellence. Having spent numerous years residing along the Sydney waterfront, has cherished experiences with Cresta46 and a variety of speedboats, along with enjoying windsurfing. Though not a current boat owner, she deeply appreciates the passion for boating and the community it fosters, along with the simple pleasures of sunshine, a glass of wine, and good company.

Jamie Beavis

Committee Member Jamie is no stranger to boating, and has been involved in sailing for most of his life. Jamie has raced larger yachts for many years, and brings very extensive and welcome private business experience to the Committee, and is a welcome member, who brings considerable community volunteer experience to the table.

David Paterson

Deputy Chairman David is an inaugural member of HQMA. He rejoined the Committee at the November 2023 Annual General Meeting. He was appointed Deputy Chairman on the 19 March 2024, is the Public Officer of HQMA and is carrying out the Secretarial function until that vacant position is re-filled. He spent 40 + years in the Australian mining, exploration and stockbroking industries. He has been an executive director of 4 ASX listed companies. David was raised in the South Brighton & Seacliff environs and included many family boats. He continues to enjoy being on the water fishing, entertaining, relaxing and mixing with fellow boaties on his Maritimo 48 – Bourse 2.

He spent 40 + years in the Australian mining, exploration and stockbroking industries. He has been an executive director of 4 ASX listed companies. David was raised in the South Brighton & Seacliff environs and included many family boats. He continues to enjoy being on the water fishing, entertaining, relaxing and mixing with fellow boaties on his Maritimo 48 – Bourse 2.
